I am a professional Clinical Hypnotherapist, Hypnoanalyst and Psychotherapist specialising in the relief of Panic Attacks, Stress and Anxiety Related Disorders including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). I am passionate about my work, and thoroughly enjoy helping my clients overcome their problems so that they can improve their lives for the better. My varied background and personal life experiences mean that I am able to work effectively, in a completely non-judgemental manner with people from all walks of life. I work full-time from my busy, highly successful Hypnotherapy Practice based in Chelmsford, Essex.

I work in an eclectic style which means that I am able to use different styles of therapy, methods and techniques to suit each of my clients. I believe that the client-centred approach works best, as it enables me to give the best possible therapy to each client, as well as allowing me to work in the most effective way with the presenting problem. I favour an investigative style of working called Hypnoanalysis as it deals with the cause and effect, helping the client to get to the root of the problem. Unlike most symptomatic based therapies this method produces permanent relief from the problem.

I have always been interested in people, psychology and the workings of the human mind, so when my own personal life experiences eventually led me to discover Hypnotherapy, it was a real revelation!
I suffered with my symptoms for many years, without even realising that what I was actually experiencing was stress, anxiety and panic attacks. I couldn't understand why I was constantly tired, depressed and struggling with my weight. Despite my GP telling me on numerous occasions that I was fine (blood tests etc were normal), I refused to accept that the way I was feeling was normal. I had been searching for answers to so many questions about myself for such a long time, that when I finally found them, the relief was immense. At last, I had found out why I felt like I did, and this was all self-discovered... little did I know that this was only the beginning of my journey to a better life. Hypnotherapy helped me get better so I could start living my life to the full. I can honestly say it was a truly life-changing experience, and I have not looked back since. Plus I am now over three stone lighter for it!

Having completed a fully comprehensive year-long training course, I was awarded my Diplomas in Clinical Hypnosis with Psychotherapy and Hypnoanalysis (DHP). The course was very high quality, and focused on the safe and ethical application of clinical hypnosis during client-centred therapy. I then went on to do a further year-long advanced training course, and gained my Advanced Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy (Adv. DHP).
I am very proud to say that I was trained by Terence Watts, one of the most renowned, well-respected, experienced Senior Clinician's in the World of Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy. Terence runs The Essex Institute of Clinical Hypnosis (EICH), and his school is accredited by The Association for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy (APHP). The training courses he offers are amongst some of the best in the country, and as well as being an International Lecturer and Presenter, Terence is a Published Author of Books and Manuals about Hypnosis and Psychotherapy.
I have since gone on to do many more training courses to enhance my therapy knowledge, skills and experience further, and have been awarded the status of ‘Fully Qualified Psychotherapist’. I have also specialised in certain areas (see ‘Specialist Training Skills’ section for further details).
In addition to my foundation training, I am also a ‘Qualified Specialist’ in the following areas:
I work successfully with clients on a daily basis to help them overcome specific problems in these areas.

All my clients are guaranteed strict confidentiality, and all client notes and records are kept secure and confidential at all times.
I am compliant under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998. For further information, please visit the Information Commissioner's Office website.

Currently there is no official regulatory body for Hypnotherapists to register with (the equivalent of say the ‘FSA’ for Banks and ‘Corgi’ for Plumbers etc.). However, all professional, reputable Hypnotherapists like me should be members of at least one professional association, and most of these are currently working towards achieving ‘Voluntary Self-Regulation (VSR)’ in order to set national standards for our profession.
I am a registered member of ‘The UK Confederation of Hypnotherapy Organisations (UKCHO)’ through the various Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy Associations that I belong to (see ‘Professional Memberships’ section for more details).
The ‘UKCHO’ holds a register of all professionally qualified Clinical Hypnotherapists & Psychotherapists. Members of the public are able to access this register via the ‘UKCHO’ website to help them choose a Therapist, giving them confidence and peace of mind.
To find out more, read about current ‘Hypnotherapy Regulations’.
As a reputable, registered professional, I am required to have Professional Liability Insurance. A copy of my Insurance Certificate is on display in my Consulting Room so that my clients can rest assured they are in safe hands.
Formal supervision is a requirement throughout the industry, as it ensures that high standards of practice are maintained. This means that I have regular contact with my Supervisor who is an experienced Senior Clinician. This supervision provides me with a support network, giving me access to even more knowledge and experience.
Hypnotherapy is no different to any other therapy within the field of psychology. Research and development is on-going, and as a result new developments and techniques are constantly discovered. I am therefore committed to continually expand and update my knowledge within this area, and I regularly attend CPD Days in order to meet yearly training targets set by my governing bodies. This is beneficial to both my practice and my clients, as it means that I am always able to provide the best therapy possible. Please feel free to look at just a select few of my CPD Certificates displayed in my Consulting Room.
